Our history

British Airways i360 was conceived and designed by Marks Barfield Architects, creators of the London Eye. Our story began when planning consent was granted in 2006. In 2014, funding was secured and construction started. British Airways i360 opened on August 4, 2016, and has since welcomed more than 300,000 visitors.

Sustainability

Clean, green and efficient were the watchwords when Marks Barfield Architects designed British Airways i360. The whole site is powered using green-sourced electricity, and 50% of the energy needed to operate the pod is generated by its descent.

Community engagement

We aim to make a positive impact on the community around us, for example, 1% of our ticket revenue is paid to the city in perpetuity, we work with a local charity partner and, during our opening year, gave a free ticket to every child attending a state school in Brighton & Hove.

Our construction team
