Julia Barfield MBE FRSA RIBA, Chair
Julia is the Chair and a shareholder of British Airways i360, Managing Director of Marks Barfield Architects and was a director of the London Eye Company 1994 to 2006. Julia is currently on the national RIBA Awards Panel; was an Awards assessor for the Civic Trust; on the Design Review Panel for CABE; a member of Guy’s & St Thomas’s Members Council; and is a governor at Godolphin & Latymer School and on the LLDC Quality Panel
Dr John Roberts, FREng FICE FIStructE, Director
John is British Airways i360’s Chief Engineer and a director and shareholder. John is Executive Director of Operations at Jacobs UK and a visiting Professor at the University of Manchester. John was President of the Institution of Structural Engineers 1999-2000 and awarded the Gold Medal 2005. John is a leading structural engineer with expertise in passenger-carrying rides; he was the London Eye’s principal engineer.
Dick Russell, Director
Dick is British Airways i360’s legal adviser and a director and shareholder. Dick advised Marks Barfield and the London Eye Company throughout the negotiations for the creation and financing of the London Eye, and has performed a similar role in relation to British Airways i360 since its inception. For over thirty years, Dick was a corporate finance partner at City solicitors Titmuss, Sainer & Webb, ultimately departmental head and Managing Partner.
Eleanor Harris, Director
Eleanor Harris is a director and shareholder of British Airways i360. Eleanor is Managing Director of I-Xperience, a visitor attraction consulting firm. Eleanor’s career in tourism has spanned more than 20 years. She was commercial director of the London Eye 2000-6 and previously was a manager in marketing and operations at British Airways plc.
Steve Bax, Executive Director
Steve Bax has worked in the visitor attraction sector for more than 10 years and was the Historic Properties Director, London and the East, for English Heritage. Steve started his career with English Heritage selling admissions tickets from Framlingham Castle in Suffolk, before working his way up through the organisation in key positions across the country. Steve is highly respected among the UK tourism industry and his wealth of experience makes him the ideal person to take British Airways i360 to new heights.
We are a small office team of around 20 members of staff who are overseeing the operations staff and running the business. The office is filled with highly talented and passionate people who are proud to be part of Britain’s newest landmark.
Sophie Shepherd from Fiveways is our Sales Manager and comes with extensive event experience from The Grand Hotel Brighton and the Conference People. Emily Bamber, a former freelance journalist, is our PR and Communications manager. Marie King manages our digital marketing and joined us from Sussex’s oldest independent brewery, Harvey’s Brewery. The Sales and Marketing team is completed by Charlotte Carter, Maisie Phillips and Ed Sharp.
Our head of operations, Courtney Lawrence-Hedges was previously at Bocketts Farm Park and has learnt her excellent customer service and management skills from years working at a well-known visitor attraction.
Katie Ring heads up our finance and human resources functions, with retail supervisor Samantha Boyce managing all the products in our retail store.

Kevin Meredith, Official Photographer
Kevin Meredith (a.k.a. Lomokev) is the official BAi360 photographer, responsible for capturing the project in pictures. Brighton-based, Kevin has done all our time lapse photography and has even taken aerial shots of the site from a crane cage! He is also known to photograph from the water as a member of the Brighton Swimming Club.
