kevin-meredith-17-03-20-5d-mrk3-2424 (002)I grew up in…  rural Kent.

Now I live in… Queen’s Park, Brighton.

When I was a child I wanted to be… a fisherman.

My first job was… selling my daily fish catch around my village.

My career was most influenced by… Roger Whittle, MD at Jigsaw Systems.  He taught me how to have fun with your team while running a successful business and to how to instill an ethos of outstanding customer service.

The best piece of advice I was given was… talk to as many people as possible – you just never know where an opportunity may spark from.

When I need inspiration I… go walking on the South Downs or running on the seafront.

The biggest turning point in my career was… Starting up Curve IT in 2008. Running your own business is such a large leap into the unknown but I knew I had the technological expertise and really wanted to deliver my own style of customer-centered IT solutions rather than the IT dictating to the client.

I love what I do because… I love meeting customers and working with my team to develop amazing IT solutions for them that solve their problems and improve their business operation.  I also love the large-scale WiFi installations we do for exciting events such as Pride, Spiegeltent and just last week, the Brighton & Hove Albion FC Promotion parade – the WiFi facilitates a smooth operation and allows visitors to share what a great time they’re having.

Not many people realise that… we work all over the country not only in Brighton.  For example we deliver WiFi to equestrian events such as Burghley Horse Trials in Lincolnshire and currently have several new build IT infrastructure projects in London.

Our customers love us because… we’re conscientious, super-friendly, don’t use IT jargon (unless you want us to!) and are brilliant at finding solutions.

I love Brighton & Hove because… it changes so much with the seasons; in winter it’s quiet and a bit sleepy; in spring it’s all about the Festival; in summer it’s packed with visitors and so lively; and the autumn brings low tides and stunning sunsets over the beach.

My top tip for people visiting Brighton & Hove is… come for the whole of May to visit the Fringe and the Festival.

My favourite place in Sussex is… the South Downs, especially Ditchling Beacon and the Seven Sisters.

In my spare time I… go snowboarding in the winter, sailing in the summer and walking all year round.

My claim to fame is… I appeared on Songs of Praise when I was a child – not very ‘celebrity’ is it?

This time next year… I’ll be at the Spiegeltent, (logged onto the Wi-Fi!) watching something crazily brilliant – and hopefully we might be installing the WiFi for the Brighton & Hove Albion‘s Premier League Champions parade along the seafront!
