Throughout its 96-year history, British Airways has been at the forefront of innovation in aviation.
Its pioneering spirit has led to numerous industry and world firsts; the first commercial scheduled service, the first commercial jet and supersonic services and the first fully flat beds on its aircraft. In 2013, British Airways became the first commercial airline in Europe to operate both the Airbus A380 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Part of International Airlines Group, British Airways is one of the world’s leading global premium airlines and the largest international carrier in the UK and the only airline with its principal place of business in London, operating from London Heathrow, London Gatwick and London City airports. Operating one of the most extensive international scheduled airline route networks, British Airways carries almost 40 million customers a year and has a fleet of more than 280 aircraft, and together with its joint business agreement, codeshare and franchise partners, it flies to more than 170 destinations in 70 countries.
