Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Reports to: Head of Facilities and Maintenance

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £28,000 to £30,000 per year

Your roles will include, but not be limited to: 

  • To maintain all mechanical and electrical equipment at the site, liaising with third party suppliers where appropriate, including (but not limited to) the vertical cable car, CCTV, heating / cooling (HVAC), AV / sound system, Fire systems, Intruder alarm systems, access control system etc.
  • To complete the daily start up checks and cleaning for the vertical cable before the start of the daily operation (including climbing up ladders to reach the basement or top of the tower).
  • To support the Facilities and Maintenance manager when required with the management of a number of key third party facilities contracts including (but not limited to) Poma, remote monitoring/ security, CCTV, IT support and rope access to ensure they comply with the terms of service level agreements.
  • To collaborate with the Operational team, Sales team and Procurement Manager to ensure the smooth running of the operation.
  • To assist in the monitoring of all faults and any ride downtime.
  • To assist with the completion of preventative maintenance schedule.
  • This list is not exhaustive. We are a small ‘start up’ team and the role may evolve over time. A flexible and willing attitude is vital.

You will have the ability to react well under pressure and to stay calm and rational in emergency situations.

  • You will have the aptitude to learn new systems, understand technical manuals, and you will enjoy technical problem solving and being an expert in systems.
  • You will be a team player with great communication skills, with a hands on attitude, willing to muck in and to help out to make sure that the venue stays open and the operation runs smoothly at all times.
  • You must be a self-starter who is able to work without direct day-to-day supervision, but equally you must be a team player able to work effectively with colleagues at British Airways i360, at our suppliers and broader team.
  • A full passport with the right to travel to Europe without needing a visa.
  • This role requires a high level of physical fitness, as it involves manual handling and climbing on ladders. Therefore, you will be required to pass a fitness test, occupational health screening and medical assessment.

Accounts Assistant

Department: Finance

Reports to: Head of Finace

Job Type: Part-Time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £20,000 – £23,000 per year pro-rata

This is a part-time role of 25 hours per week spread over five days (five hours per day) and split between Sales Ledger and the Purchase Ledger for the Attraction division of the business. Both functions will be managed directly by yourself. There is flexibility in the Salary of between £20,000 and £23,000 per annum pro-rata and dependent on experience and qualifications.

Job Summary:

  • To manage the purchase ledger and the supplier payment process.
  • To manage the Sales Ledger and credit control process.
  • To reconcile the bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts as required.
  • To assist the Assistant Accountant and Head of Finance as required.

Responsibilities and Main Duties:

Purchase Ledger:

  • Check invoices received and match them to existing purchase orders.
  • Chase up open purchase orders with budget holders.
  • Post matched invoices on Xero.
  • Generate a payment listing from the aged creditors and enter the payment details on Bankline.
  • Reconcile the operating bank account and post payments on Xero.
  • Reconcile the relevant balance sheet accounts at month end.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies.
  • Liaise with suppliers and investigate supplier queries.
  • Add new suppliers to Xero after verifying their credentials and bank account details.
  • Manage the staff expenses and credit card expenditure processes.
  • Manage the prepayments and accruals processes.
  • Maintain the integrity of the purchase ledger by updating the supplier accounts as necessary and removing duplicate accounts.
  • Any other ad-hoc requests as directed by the Assistant Accountant or Head of Finance.

Sales Ledger & Credit Control:

  • Raise and post trade sales and other invoices on Xero.
  • Chase unpaid invoices up with the trade sales team and other customers.
  • Reconcile the bank account and post invoice payments received.
  • Reconcile the relevant sales ledger balance sheet accounts.
  • Any other ad-hoc requests as directed by the Assistant Accountant or Head of Finance.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education level: Accounting related qualifications are not necessary but will be an advantage.
  • Experience: Proven job experience preferable.
  • Specific skills: Numeracy skills required. Must have the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Certifications: Preferable, AAT or CIMA/ACCA studier or part qualified.
  • Personal characteristics: The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines will be an advantage. A pleasant demeanor and positive mental attitude desirable.

Commis Chef

Job type: Casual

Salary: £9.30 – £10.50 per hour

West Beach Bar & Kitchen are looking to recruit experienced Commis Chef’s on a casual basis for their restaurant at British Airways i360 in Brighton. This amazing venue which opened in August 2016 includes a casual dining restaurant, Café & Bar, Beach Bar and private dining facilities as well as “The Pod”. The pod slowly glides to 450 feet and offers breath taking 360 degree views and is the home of the Sky Bar.

Main Objectives:

  • To ensure that all food items for the all Restaurants are prepared on time and meet quality and quantity standards.
  • Prepare food requisitions as assigned.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all assigned areas, including refrigerators and freezers.
  • Complete all due dilligence paperwork.
  • Consideration of sustainability, minimising spoilage and waste and ensuring proper storage.
  • Ensure smooth running of section.
  • Establish and maintain effective employee relations.
  • Inform the Sous Chef of all relevant information.
  • Communicating effectively to team members.
  • To be aware of all legislation that is relevant to your work and ensure that all legal requirement are met including: Licensing, Health and Safety at Work, COSHH, Environmental Health, Fire Precautions and any others.
