It was an historic day for the British Airways i360 as the last segment of the glass viewing pod was gently lowered into place.
It has been an epic year for British Airways i360. Can you believe that last Christmas we were deep in the ground, hand-excavating live electricity cables and planning our big break into the Victorian sewer running under our site? This year we are 162m into the sky and building the futuristic glass pod that will offer incredible views over the city, coast and the South Downs.
With the pod floor sectors (a sector is a pie-shaped part of a circle) now installed on the chassis at the base of the tower, we have reached a really exciting part of the build: installing the 24 delicate superstructure sectors that give the pod its recognisable form.
